FAQs

Frequency

The frequency of sessions can vary, but in the beginning, it is helpful to meet weekly to establish rapport and build a relationship with your therapist.

If you are wondering how long you would need to be in therapy, consider that short-term work is normally between 8 and 12 sessions. We do have many long-term clients that we see every week or every few weeks, for about a year or two.

They are patients who may have long-standing trauma or challenges, or individuals who enjoy the therapeutic process and look at therapy as a form of self-discovery, self-care, and maintenance.

Person to Person

Therapy is personal, and your therapist can help you decide how frequent sessions should be or how long the therapy should continue. Sessions are 50 minutes long.

Insurance

Currently, we are only in-network with Optum/United Behavioral Health insurance plans. When speaking with your insurance company, you can explain that we are out-of-network providers and ask whether they reimburse for out-of-network providers. If they do,  kindly ask how much they reimburse.

Plans

Most clients have a PPO plan that allows them to use out-of-network benefits. Many clients are reimbursed around 40-80% based on their PPO. It is recommended that you contact your insurance company directly to know the details of your plan.

We provide a monthly billing statement, also known as a Superbill, that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Cancellation

There is a 24-hour cancellation policy. No-shows or late cancellations will be charged the full session fee.

FAQs

How is payment accepted?

Payment is accepted via all major credit cards and HSA/FSA cards through the client portal that I use to connect with you for video sessions, documentation, and communication. Everything is conveniently in one place.

Do you take insurance?

We are currently in a network with Optum/United Healthcare. If you have a PPO plan that provides out-of-network benefits, it is possible to go through your insurance. We will be able to provide you with a super bill, which can be submitted to your insurance company for partial reimbursement of fees.
It is not guaranteed that your insurance will reimburse you for therapy sessions. In order to find out if you have out-of-network benefits that cover mental health, we encourage you to call your insurance company and ask the following questions.
(The phone number will be located on the back of your insurance card.)
Do I have a PPO plan?
Do I have mental health benefits?
Am I limited to a certain amount of sessions?
Do I need prior authorization from my primary care physician?
Is there a deductible that I must meet before I can receive reimbursement for out-of-network sessions? If so, what is it, how much of it have I used so far, and when does my deductible renew?
How much do you reimburse for therapy sessions with a Marriage and Family Therapist?
What is my expected coinsurance (copay) for sessions with a Marriage and Family Therapist?
How do I submit my superbill for reimbursement?

What are the benefits of paying out of pocket instead of using insurance?

Insurance requires that a diagnosis be made in order to pay for your therapy sessions. This means that you will be given a diagnosis and that it will become a part of your permanent record.
Insurance is able to dictate how many sessions you can have, how frequent your sessions are, and how much they would like to pay per session.
They may also request case reviews or case notes, which limits your confidentiality.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that sometimes, life happens, and there are emergencies. In these cases, we are happy to accommodate schedule changes if and when we can. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice or no-shows will be charged the full session fee.

Our Clients

Take a look at what our clients have to say about our work and
dedication that keeps them coming back for more.

I was initially apprehensive, but turned hopeful when Nadia approached our work together with compassion, patience, and perception. She shared her observations and posed challenging questions without judgment, which gave me the space to grow consciously and subconsciously.

My loved ones have seen a positive change in the way that I approach challenging situations at home, at work, and in life. The best part about working with Nadia is knowing that I can be honest, and for better or worse, she will continue to work with me on a path towards a higher level of healing and self-discovery.
